well well well.
blogging is an interesting adventure for ms. marlee t. seven months away. but we'll try it anew.
first: PRESIDENTIAL HOOPLAH!
can we please take a moment to wonder what on earth is going to happen if McCain is elected president of the US (which i am forced to uncomfortably acknowledge is a grand/large/huge possibility/probability/inevitability because of the lack of foresight of the "American population" because we live in such a freaking large and culturally diverse country that can still be united (whaaaat?) by faint ideas of what "American values" are or what exactly was bound up in our Constitution all those centuries ago by a few dozen stuffy old men with grandiose philosophical ideas and who had no clue that the American education system would go to pot and that instead of having a government which allows everyone free access to transparency and which remains accountable for its actions, we would have one that plays the constant blame game like a bunch of 6 year olds arguing about who threw the last twinky out the car window on the way home from school (hellooooo, marlee's cynical today))? and the fact that we could have a woman, who is so strangely opposed to all womanhood and women's rights, representing our "interests" by squishing roe vs. wade under her star-spangled heel and telling America's female youth that if Jesus Christ wants you to have a child at age 17, well, then, hot damn!, you'd better be honored to pump 'em out! and the fact that my mother, democrat for life and, i would say, a normally rational human being, has been swayed from her support of one side of the American political coin to the other, just because Sarah Palin happened to be born with two Xs (and, um, can we mention the fact that she ran for governor on the "anti-corruption" platform, only to throw her support behind drilling in the Alaskan wilderness... conveniently leaving out the fact that her husband is an oil man working for BP).
chaos. and frustration. that's what (hopefully--just maybe) is in our near political future.
second: (less rant-y, more adventure-y) OAKLAND ADVENTURES!
i very recently moved to oakland and am enjoying poking around the area. yesterday (the day of labor), i went with z & r to lake temescal, which was quite sweet.

and, heavens almighty, television has got me in its grasp again: gossip girl delivered last night, and i can have my guilty little pleasure this season. faaaaantastic.
i think that's enough for today. too much ranting. got me all antsy.
